Seminary Teacher
I got a new calling at church.
That’s right, I am teaching Seminary 2 days a week.
For all those out there who have no idea what I am talking about…
In my church we receive callings or assignments(all unpaid) for service in the church. These callings come from God through a leader called a Bishop(he’s not paid, either). Every calling I’ve ever gotten has been a blessing that taught me something amazing, so when this call was extended to me I, of course, said yes.
Seminary is a program in our church where high school aged kids get to take a scripture class each weekday. In parts of this country where there are more members, this class might be part of their regular school day. But for us, this class is BEFORE school.
At 6:30 am.
Yep.
The kids who come are faithful, desiring to know about the Lord’s plan for them, or at the very least drug out of bed by their parents. This year the scriptures we are working with are in the Old Testament.
And if I was nervous about teaching teenagers for the first time in years, the idea of teaching teenagers about the Old Testament was even more panic inducing.
I used to skip studying the Old Testament and go straight to the New Testament. Not much has changed. Apparently, Heavenly Father wanted my education to be more well rounded, hence the calling.
I am already learning so much. I never realized before that the Old Testament points directly to the Savior who would come in the New Testament. It has strengthened my testimony of Jesus Christ so much to study these scriptures. I am very blessed with this opportunity to serve.
